Historic background
The
Faculty of Agriculture had its beginning in 1889 as a junior school of
agriculture
with a class of five students. The school curriculum and student
body expanded gradually until 1911 when it became a higher school of
agriculture. In 1935, the school was incorporated in the
Egyptian University, which then
began to offer the B.Sc. degree in agriculture. Until that time only male
students could get admission to the faculty. On 1945 a group of 12 female
students were able to fight their ways to gain admission and graduated in 1949
and were the first agriculture female graduates in the country. Ever since, male
and female students shared classrooms and laboratories.
