3rd AFRICAN ACAROLOGY SYMPOSIUM

 11-15 January 2004

 This Symposium is a follow up of the First and the Second African Acarology Symposium. The First Symposium was held in Pretoria, Republic of South Africa, on 24-27 November 1998, hosted by the Biosystematics: Arachnida Unit of the Agricultural Research Council-Plant Protection Research Institute. The Second Symposium was held in the International Center of Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE), Nairobi, Kenya, on 3-7 December 2001, hosted by the African Acarology Association (AAA) and the Association of Kenyan Acarologists (AKA).

Dr. V. Prasad, chief editor of the International Journal of Acarology (IJA) who participated in the formation of AAA promised to attend the symposium. Dr. Prasad will provide awards (plaques) to selected acarologists on behalf of IJA. He will also provide a fellowship on the name of Prof. Dr. M. A. Zahir. Dr. V. Prasad will give one of the plenary lectures in the 3rd AAS.

The 3rd African Acarology Symposium aims to bring together scientists in various disciplines related to mites and ticks to exchange ideas and share research findings to stimulate collaborative research.

The African Acarology Association (AAA) and the Association of Egyptian Acarologists (AEA) will host the 3rd African Acarology Symposium at the Faculty of Agriculture, Cairo University, Giza, Egypt, from Sunday 11th to Thursday 15th January 2004.
